Pecoraro Latteria
Gourmet grocery & restaurant fit-out interior design
Seo Architect collaborated on the first restaurant venture by Pecoraro Cheese, a renowned mozzarella cheese factory in Brooklyn. The project site had a complex history, previously occupied by a Chinese delivery restaurant that was destroyed by fire. After years of abandonment and halted repair efforts due to a violation for unpermitted work, the site presented significant challenges.
The project involved designing a new restaurant layout, featuring seating and bar areas on the first floor, a commercial kitchen, and a walk-in cooler in the cellar. To enhance the space, new windows were installed, bringing in natural light and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Seo Architect partnered with structural engineers to replace damaged floor joists and install mechanical dunnage on the roof. We also worked closely with MEP consulting engineers to develop and implement new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. A critical aspect of the project was addressing and resolving multiple DOB/ECB violations, including those related to unpermitted work.
In collaboration with an interior designer, we ensured the space complied with ADA and energy code requirements while incorporating a thoughtful lighting layout that elevated the overall dining experience.
This project highlights Seo Architect's expertise in overcoming regulatory and structural challenges to create a functional, modern restaurant that aligns with the client's vision for their first foray into the hospitality industry.
